AGILE TRANSFORMATION

BDD can support you in all parts of your Agile transformation.

org-img.jpg

An agile transformation is an act of transforming an organization’s form or mature gradually to one that can embrace and thrive in a flexible, collaborative, self-organizing, fast-changing environment. Successfully traveling the transformational path calls for enormous effort in managing the change — changes in the organization’s structure, people’s behavior, team dynamics, tools, processes, stakeholder interactions, and so on.

For the long-term Development of your Organization, we will guide you in three dimensions: Business objectives, Culture, and Structure. These dimensions are intertwined and are all needed to achieve Business Agility. Our goal is to help you become a learning organization where people long to come to work each day.

A transformation will never happen overnight and is hard to observe from the inside of an organization. Hence, it is important to acquire external support from someone who has the experience and whom you can trust. Our services, TrainingLeadership, and Facilitation are essential parts in supporting a successful transformation, and we offer them as a dynamic way to adapt according to your needs.

With a strong partnership and several SAFe Certified Change Agents(SPCs), BDD applies the SAFe framework with proven organizational change management strategies.

SAFe case studies, representing a wide range of enterprises including financial services, software, retail, telecom, healthcare, and government, offer compelling results around common pain points such as:

  • Faster time-to-market
  • Improved employee morale
  • Better quality
  • Increased productivity

These results are in today’s rapidly changing business climate, often a matter of survival and pre-conditions for Digital transformations.

BDD is firmly committed to SAFe, with a strong partnership and several Certified Change Agents (SPCs) with extensive experience and the ability to train and coach you into successful results.

The SAFe Implementation Roadmap graphic and article series describe the steps or ‘critical moves,’ an enterprise can take to implement SAFe in an orderly, reliable, and successful fashion.

AGILE TRAINING

We take pride in delivering training for usable knowledge.

lcurve

Use it, or you lose it

How we learn has, for long, been a significant interest for humans. Already the ancient cultures understood that systematic training creates a better result, and the Romans coined the proverb “Repetition is the mother of learning.

More than a hundred years ago, when Hermann Ebbinghaus discovered the Learning and Forgetting Curves, it became clear why it is necessary to continuously repeat when you want to acquire a lasting skill. Without repetition, knowledge will vanish.

We can see the power of repetition everywhere in Lean and Agile, where Plan-Do-Check-Act and Iterations are central to all improvements. Any training from BDD includes repetitive elements, and we always encourage participants to a dialogue where subjects may be viewed from different perspectives. After each course event, we reach out to all participants with supplementary material and open up for any outstanding questions.

Your engagement is key to learning

BDD, and also Scaled Agile, adopts Training from the back of the room, which is built on the 4 Cs; Connect, Concepts, Concrete, and Conclusion.

In practice, it means that all course modules and an entire course, are built on these elements that ensure engagement and learning.

The result does not come during the training

When someone attends a course, in any subject, a big part of the learning, and the result comes after the event when participants have the opportunity to use what they learned. The Kirkpatrick Learning Model describes the four steps that should be evaluated to understand the impact of training.

The majority of our classes come with an opportunity to get certified. The certification includes the training but also an exam test. The studies to achieve certification is a great opportunity to repeat and a powerful way to acquire more knowledge. To further adhere to the Kirkpatrick Learning Model, whenever possible, BDD offers a coaching session some months after the course event. In this session, we also ask students to answer an after-training evaluation.

In some situations, live events are not possible, and online communication may be a compensating opportunity. We have developed a concept for Blended learning, which is also well suited before and after training contacts.

Learning path to become a certified SAFe professional

In close collaboration with Scaled Agile, we provide the entire range of training for becoming a SAFe professional and making yourself competitive in a modern working environment.

AGILE LEADERSHIP

Leadership is the foundation for long term success

When you invest in a new product or launch a new program, you need effective leadership to make sure you meet your business goals. Whether it’s jump-starting a new program, helping get a project back on track, selecting software, or a program health check, we can provide the leadership you need.

Large SW development projects are, by their very nature, ones where the requirements tend to evolve during the term of the project. The project team concentrates on the currently known requirements, knowing that change is expected and can be managed. However, other requirements may well evolve and surface during the duration of the project. This means that the scope of the project may need to change; for some, it could mean the interpretation of the boundaries for the project scope may alter, or it may be that what is required to achieve the scope changes. Planning and replanning are critical activities, as is change management so that the project is “planning driven” instead driven by the plan.

Visionary instead of Directive

Visionary leaders use intelligence and creativity to craft and communicate inspirational stories of a dynamic future. They see opportunities others may not be able to see from a perspective most don’t have. They can communicate Project vision with clarity and inspiration.

Network Creating instead of Hierarchy Building

Network creators spend their time building a lean network of outstanding teams instead of architecting nested hierarchies. A lean Project organization will allow quick adjustments when the vision changes or conditions warrant. Your current hierarchy may take time (years) to unwind, but an Agile transformation may present an excellent time to begin crafting smaller, nimble, and well-connected teams.

Empathetic instead of Disconnected

Empathetic, servant leaders are doing things for the benefit of others. They are selfless and humble. For a leader to be empathetic, they need to understand and share what people are going through. This requires a connection and relationship with those you are leading.

Encouraging instead of Deflating

Encouragers become the primary cheerleader for the vision and people of the organization. Every interaction with an encouraging leader makes others feel bigger, more important, and more motivated than before. Every response from every interaction you have as a leader is being watched and scrutinized – so make them count. Encouragers attract people to their vision. Deflators repel.

AGILE FACILITATION

Facilitation is a core competency for managing efficient and effective meetings

facility-image.jpg

Facilitation is essential to make any event productive. The best facilitation is accomplished when the facilitator is independent of the subject and can focus on conducting a great discussion.

All BDD coaches are experienced facilitators. We have facilitated thousands of workshops, and we have the tools that will make your meeting fly.

We are many times involved in facilitating unique workshops on any creative or problem-solving subject such as Innovation, Design, or Team building. The most common situation is when we facilitate workshops on a more regular basis within a coaching assignment.

Core practice

Facilitation is a core practice for Scrum Masters at any organizational level. All events should have a clear purpose, agenda, exercises, and are often time-boxed. We frequently coach events like Sprint planning, Retrospective, Risk analysis, or PI-planning when a Scrum Master or Release Train Engineer needs assistance.

Regardless of the meeting type, it is vital to preserve energy and engagement. It is hard to achieve any creative results if a few people feel tired, bored, or uncommitted in a meeting. We use energizers, breaks, breakouts, games, and many other techniques to engage people.

No one wants to attend another  Blah, Blah, Blah meeting and you should make sure it does not happen in your organization. Do contact us if you need ideas on how to plan your workshop! We are always willing to guide you.

Trust the facilitator

The facilitator needs to have the authority for the process in the meeting and should be as independent as possible with regard to the subject. Workshops and events are in most cases timeboxed and you should trust that the facilitator comes to the meeting properly prepared. Do not question how activities are conducted, but follow instructions and you will have good enough result in the end of the meeting.
